Chilley Farm
For more than 450 years, the Plumley family has farmed the Pevensey Levels. Today, Chilley Farm remains a working beef and lamb farm, with around 400 cattle and 250 breeding ewes. Its all-grass farm is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the family describes caring for its distinctive landscape as an important part of farm life. The farm’s shop grew from a conversion of old horse stables in 2003. Visitors can find fresh produce, pantry staples, meat packs and homemade treats, alongside beef and lamb from the working farm. Chilley Farm has also evolved beyond farming: the family rebuilt a storm-damaged stone barn as a venue for weddings and events, and hosts community activities including pizza nights. It brings together local food, working farmland and experiences on the farm.
